I got to San Antonio on Friday and late Friday night my father died. He had a seizure on December 12, 2013 and was told he would not live long. The amazing thing is that he should have had incredible pain from what many medical professionals told us about his type of brain cancer. He had mild headaches on some days. However, he developed back pain from being bed ridden. Throughout the last six months he told me that he had not had any pain for 82 years and was very fortunate. He was positive throughout. He told me that he was not going to live forever and that if it wasn’t this – something else would end his life. Then he said he would see me in heaven. He was a great father and in my opinion a great man. I don’t know if I have ever met a better man. You may be surprised to know that I asked him to be my best man in my wedding.
He is a veteran and will be buried in the Fort Sam Houston cemetery in San Antonio on next Friday, June 27 at 1:45 p.m. (They only allow burials on Monday through Friday.) The memorial service on will be on Saturday, June 28th at 1:30 p.m. at Castle Hills First Baptist Church in Castle Hills – a suburb of San Antonio. Please do not sent flowers. There will be too many.
We are all alternating between crying and laughing and thanking God we were fortunate enough to have a man like my dad in our lives.
